Wellington County Council adopts 2022 Budget

Approval comes along with a 2% Increase in County's Portion of Property Taxes

Wellington County Council adapted it’s 2022 Budget at today’s council meeting. With the approval comes a corresponding 2% increase in the County’s portion of property taxes they say to focus on core services.

Highlights of items in the budget include significant investments in roads and public works facilities over the next decade, including a $41.2 investment in facility upgrades in the replacement of the Arthur Public Works Facility this year. Upgrades are also in store for Erin, Brucedale, Harriston and Aberfoyle public works facilities over the 10 years.

Rural Broadband will see a $4 million dollar municipal contribution over 5 years, which began last year and will continue until 2025.

The Erin Library Branch will see property acquisition and design of the new branch.

Other areas include climate change, land ambulance expansion, affordable housing property acquisition for future development, long term care direct care increases and waste management.
