Wellington County Council held a meeting today where they adopted the 2021 budget with a 1.2% increase in the County’s portion of property taxes.
Highlights of the 2021 budget include a rural broadband investment of $4 million dollars to complete the fibre optic build out over 5 years, full year curb-side collection enhancements for County residents including weekly recycling and organics, investment in roads and public work facilities over the next ten years, planning for phase 2 of the Riverstown Landfill and planning and acquisition of land for a new Erin Library branch.
The budget also offered additional funding for Wellington terrance Long-Term Care home to improve resident care during the Covid-19 pandemic.
