Public health officials are warning residents about a COVID-19 vaccine appointment texting scam which attempts to take victims person information.
This has mostly been felt in the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph region. The texts encourage those to call a number very similar to the COVID-19 booking line and to provide their personal information.
Officials say Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph public heath will only contact you about vaccine appointments to either remind you of an appointment or telling them of a cancellation or to change the date of their appointment.
Anyone who receives texts similar to what is being passed around are asked to report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre and not to respond to the messages.
