Dr. Miriam Klassen, Huron-Perth’s Chief Medical Officer of Health says the biggest issue gripping the region is the continued rise of COVID-19 variants.
Dr. Klassen says while case numbers have remained low in Huron-Perth over the past several weeks, the growing number of variants of concern are alarming. As of Monday, there are 15 variants of concern in the region.
COVID-19 vaccination clinics continued over the long weekend and will keep running throughout the month.
The rising variants of concern and hospitalizations is what prompt the current lockdown.
