Van Allen Insurance Holding 8th Charity BBQ for Cystic Fibrosis

Proceeds from the BBQ to go directly to Cystic Fibrosis Canada

Van Allen Insurance will be celebrating their 8th year of the annual charity BBQ in support for Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

The Van Allen’s have been holding this fundraiser in support of their son, Wade who is affected by Cystic Fibrosis.

Shane Van Allen, owner of Van Allen Insurance says the progress in cystic fibrosis research has been incredible and its fundraising which has truly shown its part.

“The improvements and the research and development that is actually happening out of all this fundraising such as this or from the Kinsmen or Kinettes and the amount of effort they’ve put towards CF research. It’s winning. It’s paying off and it’s huge.” said Van Allen.

Wade, who goes in for regular treatment has seen outstanding progress according to Shane.

“He went to London this past Wednesday and his PFTs (Pulmonary Function Test) where he just breathes and has to blow out these candles on a computer, were consistently 122% which is unheard of for you and I let alone somebody who has possible depleted lungs. So it’s phenomenal.”

Van Allen adds the annual BBQ has seen overwhelming support from residents and businesses alike.

The BBQ is set for Thursday May 19th from 11:30-1:30pm at Van Allen Insurance at 622 Elma Street West.

$8 is the price for a hamburger or hotdog with a drink as well as any extra donations made to head directly back to Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
