The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority Lands and Facilities staff have been working hard to manage one of Ontario’s most dangerous invasive species the Giant Hogweed.
The conservation authority says this invasive species not only threatens native species by out-competing them and poses a serious health hazard to people and wildlife due to toxic sap.
Over the spring staff have put in over 120 hours of work to treat around 116 acres of authority owned property on the Thames River.
The public is still urged to vigilant as this plant is mostly commonly found on ditches and waterways.
