Since May 2020, United Way Perth-Huron’s Urgent Needs Fund has provided a total of $278,801 to 1642 vulnerable individuals and families across the region.
The success of the Urgent Needs Fund has prompted the organization to kick off a process for those to access the fund with the 211 helpline.
United Way Perth-Huron Director Governance & Community Impact Megan Partridge says its a great next step in the Urgent Needs Fund program.
Partridge gives thanks to the City of Stratford Social Services Department as well as the County of Huron Social & Property Services Department for administering funds since May 2020.
211 is a service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and available in over 150 languages. Dialing 211 puts people in touch with a trained navigator who will help the caller get in touch for local support and solutions.
The navigator can determine if the Urgent Needs Fund is a fit for them to help and can begin an application process to the support fund.
