The Upper Grand District School Board are turning to the public on a revised board policy.
Currently the public is being asked to provide their feedback on Policy 208, the Smoke and Vape-Free Environment until September 29th.
The policy of the school board is to provide a smoke free environment for students, staff and others while on school property.
The policy is in accordance with the Smoke Free Ontario Act which includes an exception for use of tobacco or sacred medicines for traditional Indigenous cultural practices.
The policy has been updated with language which better outlines the requirements under the act and the boards accommodation to the exceptions.
Public feedback can be submitted from the school board website.
