Scams are still hitting locals with two recent reports in Bluewater and Huron East with both losses exceeding $383,000.
On April 30th Huron County OPP was contacted by a Bluewater resident who reported they lost $83,000.
The victim told police they were contacted by someone posing as an investment company.
The victim had sent $3000 by credit card but was then contacted again the fraudsters when the victim gave control of their computer where scammers accessed their banking information and took $80,000.
On May 1st, police were contacted by a senior of Huron East who since the fall of 2022 lost $300,000 from a scammer.
Two unknown males attended their residence offering to do repairs the victim never asked for.
The scammers were able to convince the victim for work with a total of $300,000 paid by several cheques.
OPP is working with both victims with investigation still ongoing.
