Two Injured in Tent Fire in Stratford Over the Weekend

Couple were known Residents of City's Homeless Population and Female received 2nd and 3rd Degree Burns.

Stratford Police responded to the scene of a tent fire this past Saturday, February 5th shortly after 5:30am.

Officers had been contacted regarding a male and female in distress on the East End of Douro Street in Stratford.

Officers found the male and female had escaped with their 2 dogs from the tent they had been living in after it had caught fire. The two were transported to the Stratford hospital due to injuries sustained.

The 59 male was later released from hospital with minor burns. The 48 year old female was later transported to London to receive further treatment for 2nd and 3rd degree burns.

The two were both known to be residents of the City within the homeless population.

At this time Stratford Police believe the fire started accidentally and not as a result of criminal activity.

The Ontario Fire Marshall has been contacted to assist with the investigation.
