Thieves steal idling vehicle in Wingham

Car was left running while the driver was inside the store stopping

Huron County OPP continue to investigate the theft of a Chevrolet Malibu that was taken last night in Wingham.

The victim reported to police her vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of an Albert Street business just before 6pm when she left her vehicle running while inside shopping.

The victim reported the suspect responsible for the theft was a male customer that was inside the store. The suspect attempted to make a purchase however the transaction was declined.

The male suspect then immediately left the store, got into her vehicle and drove away.

A description of the suspect is in the process of being obtained by investigators.

The stolen vehicle is described as a four door, silver 2006 Chevrolet Impala.

Huron County OPP reminds vehicle owners to always secure their vehicles by taking the keys out of the ignition, removing any valuables and locking the doors.

A vehicle can be stolen in a matter of seconds, don’t give criminals the opportunity.
