Tabuns Among 16 of Opposition Escorted Out of Legislature

As strike action looms for CUPE workers, debate taking place in legislation has gotten heated.

Sixteen members, including NDP Leader Peter Tabuns were among those escorted out of the legislature one at a time during Wednesday’s question period.

Tabuns was the first to be ejected after accusing the government of lying to the public and refusing to take back his remarks.

“When will the Premier and his ministers stop lying about the damage they are doing to the education system.” said Tabuns.

Following Tabuns being asked to leave, fellow members of the opposition one at a time were also named and removed after not coming to order.

The union representing over 55,000 education workers say regardless of actions taken by the provincial government, they will still plan to strike starting Friday morning “until further notice”
