Swastikas Found Across Mount Forest in Vandalism Cases

Wellington County OPP is investigating vandalism of bathrooms across multiple areas in Mount Forest.

On January 5th, OPP received a report of mischief at the library on Main Street North. It was reported sometime between 10am and 3:30pm, unknown persons carved swastikas on a bathroom wall and plugged a toilet with paper.

Vandalism was reported again at the Mount Forest & District Sports Complex on January 6th. It was reported sometime between 4pm-6pm on January 4th with unknown persons clogging toilets with paper and turning over garbage cans in a bathroom.

On January 5th, unknown persons between 4-6pm lit toilet paper on fire and marking swastikas and vulgar rhetoric on a bathroom wall at the sports complex.

OPP also received a report on January 6th from a business on Main Street South, unknown persons marked swastikas in the restaurants bathroom.

“The County of Wellington condemns all acts of antisemitism and all forms of hatred, discrimination and bias in our community,” said Warden Andy Lennox. “Any act of antisemitism cannot, and will not, be tolerated.”
