Suspended Driver Caught Twice on Same Day in Stratford

Driver attempted to give fake name to avoid the same charge second time

 

Yesterday shortly after 8am Stratford Police conducted a traffic stop with a white Chevrolet Malibu on McCarthy Road West in the area of Fraser Drive in Stratford. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 33 year old male of Stratford who was listed as being a suspended driver under the Highway Traffic Act.

The driver was subsequently charged with Driving while Suspended and issued with a court date of June 22nd.

Shortly before 5pm the same day the Stratford Police conducted a traffic stop with the same vehicle, once again on Mc Carthy Road West in the area again of Fraser Drive. The same individual as earlier was found to be driving however he attempted to provide a false name, in an attempt to evade another charge. The officer positively identified the driver and placed him under arrest for Obstructing Police.

The driver was released at the scene with an Appearance Notice requiring him to attend court on June 14th. He was also issued with another charge for Driving while Suspended with the same court date as above, and the vehicle was towed away at that time.
