The provincial government is expanding its list of municipalities to allow for more strong mayor powers.
These powers allow heads of council to propose bylaws and pass them with support of one third of councilors, veto bylaws as well as hire and fire department heads which has been considered by critics as undemocratic.
North Perth, Minto and North Huron are among the 169 new municipalities to be added onto the list to allow for strong mayor powers.
