Stratford Police are welcome their first ever Accredited Facility Dog, NSD Dusty.
The yellow lab is a graduate of the National Service Dogs Facility Dog Program with facility dogs being purpose bred and trained under the direction of the professional they are working with, utilize specific skills to provide emotional support and a calming influence to those they engage with.
Dusty will work with investigators, front line members and social workers to support citizens of Stratford, St Marys and Perth South.
Stratford Police Chief Greg Skinner says tragic events can happen to anyone at any time they might not be able to eliminate the trauma that comes with tragedy but they can try to mitigate it.
