With the holiday season approaching quickly the Stratford Police says nobody wants to be a victim of crime, but when you leave your vehicle unlocked and valuables inside you dramatically increase the risk of becoming a victim of theft.
Over the 3 month period of August until October the Stratford Police received 85 theft form motor vehicle calls from Stratford, St. Marys and Perth South.
They offer a few tips to avoid becoming a victim.
- Lock the Doors of Your Vehicle
- Keep Valuables out of Site (pack them in the trunk)
- Take Items with You (wallet, purse, laptop, tools) especially overnight
- Always roll Windows Up
- Never leave Vehicle Running Unattended
Police say that by simply locking doors and leaving items out of sight you play a role in crime prevention. They say if thieves can see it, they will steal it.
