Stratford has waived the fees for outdoor patios for the summer for those who do not serve alcohol.
A balance was reached as restaurants recover from the pandemic while also addressing the city’s need to take in costs from the boardwalk extension and outdoor patio program.
Options ranged between having full costs for all businesses, a complete waive of fees for restaurants but ultimately deciding on only waiving fees for restaurants which do not serve alcohol.
It’s estimated by city staff just under $34,000 to be recouped in costs, a budget shortfall of around $8500.
