A section of downtown Stratford was closed for several hours as firefighters dealt with a call on Ontario Street.
The fire department responded to reports of smoke coming from the roof of La Diperie with Ontario Street closed from Waterloo Street to Downie Street in the city.
There was some animals and people inside the building at the time but were able to escape safely with no injuries.
It’s not known yet what the cause of the fire is.
