Stratford Festival saw a bit of a change last year due to the pandemic with its season being done entirely outdoors but has announced a surplus of $553,000 from the season.

Last year’s season saw ticket sales go for more than 34,000 who attended a total of 274 live performances.

$13 million was raised in pledges from the festivals Relaunch fundraising campaign with a combined $6.4 million from provincial and federal funding.

Stratford Festival was able able to offset the cost of wages for its near 1000 employees with the help of a $6.5 million program from the feds.

This year will mark the 70th anniversary celebration for Stratford Festival, and the grand opening of the new Tom Patterson Theatre.
