Stratford Council has added just under $3.3 million to the budget for phase 2 of an affordable housing project.
This will allow the Britannia Street affordable housing project to have more units, extra amenities for residents and be more energy efficient. Around 7 new units are expected to be added to the project.
The three-storey building is designed for low income workers. With the help from feedback, the first phase of the project allowed for laundry facilities, a community lounge, a mail room, storage room and a public washroom as part of the building.
The Britannia Street affordable housing project was approved by council back in 2017 with the first phase of 35 units being completed in 2019.
