Stratford council spent time discussing a proposal to increase commercial general liability insurance from $2 million to $5 million which would apply to all business types covered under the bylaw.
Staff say the city’s insurer has been making this recommendation increase for the past few years as a way to protect the city in the event of any incident.
Feedback was provided by certain businesses owners who say the increased liability could equal out to around an extra $400 a month.
Staff took feedback received and will have a report back at a future meeting.
