Stratford Collecting Feedback on Municipal Accommodation Tax

The City of Stratford is looking to hear from the public regarding the municipal accommodation tax.

In 2023, the city implemented a tax paid by overnight guests for short term accommodations.

The 4 per cent tax was meant to help the local tourism industry remain competitive and increase destination development while also increasing community infrastructure investments.

The city is required to share 50 per cent of the net revenues from the tax with an eligible not for profit tourism organization, which is being shared with Destination Stratford.

The committee is now looking to collect feedback from the community as it works to create a policy on how the other 50 per cent of fund will be used.

Responses are being collected until June 24th.
