Stratford Asks Homeowners Not to Push Leaves Onto Streets

The City of Stratford is asking residents not to push their leaves onto the road for pickup.

While street sweepers continue to roll out on the streets, they are out picking up leaves naturally blown onto the road, not to pick up large amounts of leaves.

The city says brushing large piles of leaves onto the road is dangerous for motorcycles, bikes, scooters and others who travel close to the curb.

Large piles of leaves also end up in the gutter which can block storm sewers.

Homeowners are asked to bag their leaves and they will be picked up at the part of curbside leaf and yard waste collection programs.
