In hopes it’ll curb some parking violations in the city, Stratford council has approved an increase in parking fines.
A staff recommendation which included to triple the fines was given the green light with councilor Brad Beatty saying it simple, if you do the crime, do the time, pay the fine.
With the increase, most of the current $20 fines will jump to $60, parking on any street which blocks traffic will now carry a $120 fine.
Parking in an accessible space will increase to $400 and parking in a fire route will be $300.
While there isn’t yet a set date when the fines will increase it will be communicated when the roll out takes place.
