St Marys Fire Department Receives Donation for New Boots and Radios

Bunker boots and communication equipment to be purchased with donation

St Marys residents Ron and Pat Wouters have made a donation to the St Marys Fire Department to keep 25 volunteer firefighters safer and well armed while fighting fires.

The donation will allow firefighters to get new pairs of boots and purchase new communication equipment which wouldn’t have made it into the departments budget for a few years.

Bunker boots will be purchased, which are water and flame resistant and cost almost $600 a pair made of heavy duty leather with rubber soles which work well on wet surfaces.

The fire department will also purchase four radio headsets for each of the four trucks and two hand held radios.

It isn’t known how much Pat and Ron donated but fire chief Richard Anderson said it was among one of the largest they had received.
