Making its return for the first time in over 5 years will be the Spring Duck Race at the Listowel Memorial Park.
Friends of the North Perth Public Library have partnered up with the Listowel Lions Club to bring back the popular spring event where everyone can purchase ducks with a race taking place on May 24th with cash prizes up for grabs.
Proceeds from the event will continue to support Library programs and Friends initiatives such as the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
Stacey Ash, Chair of the Friends of the North Perth Public Library says the Imagination Library has been a huge success locally.
“We’re getting books out to more than 500 children every month, those are books for the kids to keep, it creates a foundation for early literacy. To run that program it costs us around $30,000 a year so we’re always looking for local sponsors to make sure we can keep getting those books in the hands of local kids” said Ash.
Tickets for the duck race can be purchased from any member of the Listowel Lions or Friends as well as at the Listowel branch of the Library.
The race on May 24th will start at 11am at the pedestrian bridge of the memorial park.
