The SIU says no charges will be will be laid against an officer after a man died in hospital after being found in medical distress at the Rockwood detachment.
On July 10th last year a 36 year old died in hospital who earlier in the day was found in his cell in medical distress.
The SIU was notified of the death with investigation taking place.
The sergeant at the detachment had the overall responsibility for the care of the prisoners in the hours leading to the mans incident and was the subject of the investigation.
SIU Director Joseph Martino determined there was no reasonable grounds to believe the sergeant committed a criminal offense in connection to the man’s death.
