North Perth council gathered Wednesday night to discuss next years budget.

It falls on council to ensure taxpayer dollars remain to benefit the community and to stay thriving. During the meeting, a big talking point was to keep those local dollars in the shops.

Justin Dias, Manager of Economic Development and Tourism spoke about current initiatives to encourage everyone to shop local and keep those ideas coming for next year.

“We continuously adapt and shift these programs. This month its Take the Pledge, different months could be another shop local event.” said Dias.

Dias added while it does fall to council to allocate the budget, residents shopping local helps boost the economy many times over.

“Our constant theme, our programming and messaging is encouraging residents to shop local for the holidays or throughout the year in general.”

Another 2021 budget meeting is scheduled for December 9th.
