SHIFT Landscape Working on Listowel Memorail Park Design

A Guelph landscape architecture firm will be working closely with North Perth as part of the Listowel Memorial Arena Park 59’ design.

The municipality issued a Request for Proposals from qualified consultants for park development services which closed last Friday.

The work includes design, detailed drawings and contract administration for the park site on Maitland Avenue in Listowel.

6 firms submitted their requests with town staff suggesting SHIFT Landscape Architecture based on a score which factored project budget, proof of ability as well as proponent capability and methodology.

While Jeff Newell, Manager of Programs says the cost is over the $100,000 set aside in the capital budget, he adds the project budget of 1.4 million can absorb the extra costs.

“We had originally budgeted $100,000 as part of the budget for this kind of work so we’re fairly close. Its felt the 5 per cent budget increase on this one can be absorbed by other aspects of the project as we move forward” said Newell

Council approved the request for proposal to SHIFT at a cost of $105,790 excluding HST.

The Memorial Arena Park committee has fundraised over $472,000 of its 1.4 million goal.
