The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority issued a post this morning to area gardeners.
In the post they provide a link to a guide to educate on the invasive tendencies of common non-native garden plants and suggest appropriate non-invasive alternatives.
Prohibited species of plants in Ontario include Brazilian Waterweed, European Water Chestnut, Hydrilla, Parrot Feather and Water soldier.
Great alternatives offered include Wild Geraniums instead of Periwinkle, Starry Solomon’s Seal instead of Lily-of-the-valley and Zigzag Goldenrod instead of Yellow Archangel.
You can find the full Guide to Non-Invasive Plants at the link below.
