A program which launched in Guelph and saw success in combating an overdose crisis has expanded into rural Wellington.
Safer Supply is a health service which has medical doctors and nurse practitioners prescribe medication which can reduce or eliminate a clients reliance on an illegal drug supply.
The program pairs individuals with complex addictions to be supported by a team of medical professionals which includes counseling, peer support and connections to social and health services.
The expansion comes from the help of $560,000 in funding from Health Canada’s Substance Use and Addictions Program.
