A report from Wellington County’s planning committee shows what could be a population around 160,000 people in rural areas of the county by 2051.

The committee has in principal approved a revised plan which would call for an additional 20,000 people and 9000 jobs in the county between 2041 and 2051.

This was all brought forward at the first in person county planning meeting since December of 2020.

Its expected the population growth will result from those migrating from Toronto and the greater area to Wellington County.

Population density could be expected in Centre Wellington, Erin, Wellington North and Minto.
