Rural Residents in Perth County to get Access to High-Speed Internet with New Funding

Local Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae was in Bornholm this afternoon to announce funding for local rural broadband projects in Perth County.

Rae was appearing on behalf of Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson to provide details of the partnership between the Federal and Provincial government to bring reliable high-speed internet access to more than 380 homes, farms and businesses.

The project in partnership with the Southwest Integrated Fibre Technology is now providing access to high-speed internet to more than 110 families, farms and businesses in Slabtown, Bornholm and Willow Grove. Each level of government provided $219,500 towards the project.

Also present for the ceremony of the announcement was MP for Perth-Wellington John Nater, North Perth Mayor Todd Kasenberg, West Perth Mayor Walter Mackenzie, Perth South Deputy Mayor James Aitcheson and more.

In addition both the province and federal level contributed $613,000 toward additional infrastructure in the County to provide 270 families, agricultural and businesses in the communities of Britton and Tralee in December 2022.
