MPP for Perth-Wellington, Randy Pettapiece has announced more provincial funding for local road repairs and maintenance is enroute.

The province’s Connecting Links program has given West Perth $530,172 to resurface Ontario Road (Highway 8) in Mitchell. Wellington North has received $1,420,000 for reconstruction on Queen Street East (Highway 89) in Mount Forest.

Roads and bridges are critical to rural and small-town Ontario,” Pettapiece said. “This is announcement is good news for our area. I have always said the province needs to pay its share where provincial highways are concerned.”

The Connecting Links Program allows eligible municipalities to receive up to 90 percent of project costs, up to a maximum of $3 million for road projects.

Municipalities are encouraged to apply for funding in the Connecting Links program for 2022-23 which will be open later this year.
