Reuters is reporting that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is planning to announce a September 20th election on Sunday.
The move comes two years ahead of schedule as the term of the current parliament was to run to 2023.
The current minority government has the Liberal Party with just 155 of the total 338 seats. This is in contrast to the majority the Liberal held when they came to power with 184 seats.
A recent Abacus poll released today has the Liberals sitting at 37% support, the Conservatives at 28%. The online poll was of 3000 people between August 6th and 11th.
Prime Minister Trudeau must visit Governor General Mary Simon in person to request the dissolution of parliament.
