Residents Voice Concerns Over Potential Recreation Closures

North Huron residents have voiced their concerns to council regarding the potential closure of recreation centres to cut costs as they face down a potential 20.65 per cent tax increase for the year.

Previously council proposed closing the Blyth and Wingham arena seasonally or potentially shutting one down entirely to save money.

This has been met with push back from residents who use the facilities regularly adding you can’t put a price on physical activity.

Groups such as the Blyth Lions Club have expressed their interest in wanting to work together with council on finding a solution to keep the facilities open and not work against them.
