During this past council meeting, a discussion was made about changing the speed limit along Line 84 from Highway 23 to Tremaine Avenue.
Changing the current limit of 80km/hr to 60km/hr as manager of Public Works, Lyndon Kowch says the change is a result of much heavier traffic pouring through.
“The changes relate to an increase of truck traffic as well as general traffic we’ve seen on the roadway. We’re widening the platform and will have better visibility, a speed limit of 60km per hour is proposed.” said Kowch
The vote carried 9-0 in council. 60km/hr signs have been posted up before the vote even took place, those signs are intended to be bagged until the change is made official.
Kowch added this change is intended to be permanent but if roadwork needs to continue for next summer, a temporary drop in speed will likely be brought up again.
