Wellington County OPP are warning residents of a puppy scam making its rounds after someone lost nearly $2000.

On April 6th, police received the report where a Mount Forest resident fell victim.

The resident talked online through social media with unknown suspects posing as dog breeders.

The victim agreed to purchase a puppy and provided the money from e-transfer. The suspects then requested more funds to transport the puppy from a location in Northern Ontario.

The victim at that point became skeptical who called police.

The victim lost $1900.

Police always say only to buy from companies or individuals you know, look for reviews and if a deal sounds too good to be true, its likely because it is.
