Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is issuing residents to make sure they and their family are up to date with their measles vaccinations given cases coming out of multiple areas in Ontario.
While there is no confirmed cases across Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph public health is still urging caution.
Symptoms of measles include:
- Fever
- Runny nose
- Cough
- Red, watery eyes (conjunctivitis)
- Tiny white spots inside the mouth (Koplik’s spots)
- Red, blotchy rash that starts on the face and spreads downward (generally starts 3-7 days after symptoms begin)
Dr. Nicola Mercer, Medical Officer and Health and CEO says if you are vaccinated with 2 doses of a measles vaccine or have a documented case of measles you are extremely well protected.
