With the heat wave issued by Environment Canada throughout the week, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is advising residents to take precautions to stay cool.

High heat and humidity pose a significant risk for heat related illness especially for older adults, infants and children and people who work outdoors.

Dr. Nicola Mercer, Medical Officer of Health and CEO of Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health says extreme heat can have serious health consequences and its crucial to keep yourself and loved ones cool.

Public health says to wear loose fitting, light coloured clothing, taking cool showers, closing shades at your home and avoid using the oven.
