Public Health Supporting Bill S-254

Huron-Perth Public Health is supporting new warning labels on alcohol.

An updated guideline from Canada’s Guidance on Alcohol and Health recommended on having no more than two drinks per week, saying any more and the risks for health concerns increase.

At a Huron Perth Public Health Board of Health meeting, the board voted to endorse a letter supporting Bill S-254, an act to amend the food and drugs act.

More specifically the Bill will introduce warning labels on alcoholic beverages.

Stats from the Canadian Community Health Survey show from 2015-2020 over 21 per cent of adults 19 and up in Huron Perth drink 7 or more alcoholic beverages in a week.
