Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health has seen an increase of measles in the community.
As of April 22nd there has been 30 confirmed and probable cases within the region.
Dr. Nicola Mercer, Medical Officer of Health and CEO says measles can have serious consequences, especially for children and immunocompromised people with two doses of a measles vaccine offering 99 per cent protection against the virus.
Measles can spread easily through the air from person to person when an infected person talks, coughs or sneezes and can remain in the air two hours after a contagious person has left the area.
