Huron Perth Public Health continues to support local school administrators with the reopening of schools this week. Schools across Perth and Huron are returning to class in a staggered start by use of last names. Public health is reminding parents and caregivers to always remain aware of any COVID-19 symptoms each day before their child leaves for school as well as the importance of face coverings.

Students grade 4-12 are required to wear a face mask while in school, students kindergarten-grade 3 aren’t required but it is encouraged. Some exemptions for students for face masks include those with cognitive impairment, those on the autism spectrum that could cause some distress or disorganization from wearing a face mask or those with Asthma or COPD. Discomfort from wearing a mask is not an exemption.

Students who become ill during the day will be isolated and must be picked up from school as soon as possible.
