A new wave of Omicron sub variant is spreading across the province but officials with Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health don’t expect any change in mandates and rules anytime soon.

Associate Medical Officer of Health for WDG Public Health Dr. Matthew Tenenbaum said the sub variant is the current strain in the region but adds it doesn’t seem the cases aren’t leading to a rise of hospitalizations.

Tenenbaum says he isn’t concerned as many measures are working such as getting vaccinated and physical distancing, encouraging residents to continue to spend time outside and if they experience symptoms to stay home.
