Huron-Perth Public Health is confirming mosquitoes collected from a trap in Goderich have tested positive for West Nile Virus.
Senior Public Health Inspector Dale Lyttle saying its not a surprise to see this in August as people are at a greater risk of contracting West Nile Virus during late summer months.
This is the first positive finding of the season in Huron County.
Public health is asking residents protect themselves from mosquito bites with things such as bug repellent, cover up with long sleeves and pants where mosquito activity is high and once a week to remove any standing water around their home to limit breeding grounds.
