CUPE leaders says they’ll be ending their protests today after they received word from the Ford government that they will repeal Bill 28.
The union’s 11 a.m. press conference was delayed almost an hour as they sought clarity on an offer made by Premier Doug Ford earlier that day.
“We are no longer in a world where we can go without having things in writing,” says OSBCU president Laura Walton. “We have received, and can confirm that the Premier will introduce and support legislation that will repeal Bill 28 in it’s entirety.”
Education workers will be collapsing their protest sites starting tomorrow and staff will return to work as the union and governments return to the bargaining table.
