The Local MPP’s for Huron-Bruce, Lisa Thompson and for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Bill Walker were on hand with Ontario Energy Minister Todd Smith and Westario Power CEO & President Jenny Alfandary and Board Chair George Bridge this afternoon in Walkerton to launch a new energy tracking technology aimed at saving families money on their hydro.

The “Green Button” technology will give Westario customers across Huron, Bruce and Grey Counties access to real-time energy consumption data and as MPP for Huron-Bruce Lisa Thompson says let them take immediate steps with their smart devices to reduce their usage.

“The fact of the matter is it will enable farmers and residents alike to realize efficiencies from their smart devices so that they are using energy when and where they need it.”

Energy Minister Smith says this is all about modernizing the energy system.

“In the places where it has been up and running for a while it has shown that residents can save up to 18% on their energy costs by really taking control”
