The Province and the Federal Government announced jointly yesterday a suite of supports for arriving Ukrainian Refugees fleeing the war torn country and traveling to Canada.
The services to Ukrainian newcomers include access to OHIP, access to drug benefits, emergency housing, enrollment of school age children into elementary and secondary schools for free, post-secondary support for those looking to study at publicly assisted colleges and universities and trauma-informed counselling and culturally responsive supports.
“Our government is investing up to $300 million dollar to support the Ukrainian community as they arrive to our province.”
There have been an estimated 4 million Ukrainians who have fled their homes and communities to seek shelter in other countries including Canada.
