The Province is set to offer a $200 million dollar support program aimed at helping revitalize Ontario’s tourism and hospitality industry which has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Premier Doug Ford made the announcement while on a trip in Niagara Region this afternoon and he touched on 2 grant programs announced as part of last week’s budget.

The first is a $100 million dollar tourism and hospitality small business support grant program which would give businesses a 1 time payment of up to $20,000 and includes support for hotels, motels, travel agencies, water parks and overnight camps.

The business must have experienced at least a 20 percent decline in revenue and have less than 100 employees.

The second $100 million dollar program is a recovery program for businesses to innovate and create new tourism offerings to attract visitors from around the world when it is safe to do so.

Niagara has been hit hard due the pandemic with the job losses of 32,000 and a jobless rate around 15.6 percent.
